A Conversation with Dr. Darabi

What is your favorite part of being a dentist?

I love being a general dentist and owning a small private practice in that the entire team can establish lasting relationships with our patients and invest long-term in their oral health. My team and my patients are family to me. Going to work means going to my second home and being with people that I not only care for but care about. I love my job and the people I am privileged to help.

What is your vision for your practice?

My vision is to not just be another dental office but provide a true DENTAL HOME for my patients. We go above and beyond so our patients feel comfortable, respected and a real part of the Glassell Dental family.

What should patients expect during their first dental exam that they may not have experienced before?

Along with a complete set of x-rays (if they are due), I take intra-oral photographs of all teeth so I can better explain what I see. I want patients to fully understand the condition of their oral health and be confident in my recommendations. All patients receive annual oral cancer screenings by me and a full periodontal examination with pocket measurements with our hygienist. We also offer digital scans of teeth when patients have concerns about their bite or are interested in Invisalign.

How do you approach dental treatment?

I focus on the patient’s concerns. If they need a lot of work, I break down treatment into phases – first eliminating any pain, discomfort and larger cavities to avoid future root canals and tooth loss if possible. Gums are also a top priority since they are the foundation of our teeth.

What is one area you strive to better inform your patients regarding?

I often find that my patients benefit from a better understanding of gum disease and proper oral hygiene since the long-term health risks of neglecting gum disease may not have been explained to them at prior offices. My hygienist and I create customized plans for each patient so they can keep their teeth for many years to come. We also offer laser therapy with our cleanings to disinfect the gums of harmful bacteria.

Why did you chose to practice in Old Towne Orange?

I am drawn by the rich history, kind people and amazing local food! Our office was a home decades ago and still emanates a comforting vibe that our patients love! I can provide modern dental care in a warm and cozy setting.
